Title:  Senior Pastor and Head of Staff
Hometown:  California native, born in Los Angeles, but clan home is San Diego

Family info:  I am the oldest of six children (three boys, three girls) who all live in California.  My wife, Rev. Emily McColl, served FPC for one year as an interim in the year 2000 and currently serves at the Laguna Niguel Presbyterian church (my former church).  Emily and I met at Stanford University and we have been married for 28 years.  We have four grown children, three graduated, one still in college.  My father, Bill McColl played professional football with the Chicago bears in the 1950's.  My mom, Barbara, also went to Stanford and is gifted in hospitality, fund raising and raising large batches of children.

What is your role at FPCF?  Pastor, Shepherd, spiritual guide, leader.

Why FPC Fullerton?  The Lord called me here in 2008, and I love the people and the challenge.  The community is fresh and mission minded with an eye to all ages, together, growing in love for God and each other.

JUST FOR FUN:

If you had an unplanned (spontaneous) day off from work what would you do?  Play basketball or hang with the firefighters (best are the days when I can do both - in my role is an Orange County Fire Authority chaplain!)

If you could trade places with anyone for a day who would that be?  Not likely, quite happy being who I am ... (except I might take a few of those days off)

What tradition(s) in your family enhanced your spiritual growth?  Family breakfast with hymn singing ... family dinner with sharing, and men mentoring men.

What is your bucket list (if money and time were unlimited what would you do)?  Trip to Egypt and to follow the footsteps of the Apostle Paul; learn to play the bag pipes.

What is one thing people might not know about you?  I lived in Korea for the first and second grades, the son of a Medical Missionary with the Presbyterian church.  I can pronounce exactly one dozen Korean words flawlessly.  I was a 4th round draft pick by the Washington Redskins.  I am a chaplain with the Orange County Fire Authority

What makes you cry?  Good movies like The Blind Side and Chariots of Fire; emotional goodbyes with those I love and respect.
